Description

The GiGwi Soothing Massage Bath Brush is a soft thermoplastic rubber brush that works wet or dry. In the bath it pushes shampoo down to the skin; dry, it lifts loose fur and massages as it goes. The rubber bristles cannot scratch the way metal pins can.

Key Features

  • Soft TPR bristles: Rubber rather than metal, so there is far less risk of scratching the skin.
  • Wet or dry: Works shampoo down to the skin in the bath, and lifts loose fur between baths.
  • Massage action: The rubber bristles knead the skin, which is why a lot of pets tolerate this brush when they refuse others.
  • Wrist strap: A strap on the back keeps the brush in your hand when it is wet and soapy.
  • Easy to rinse: Hair and shampoo come straight off under the tap, with nothing to pick out.

How To Brush

  • Work in the direction the coat lies, in short strokes, section by section.
  • Keep the pressure light. If the skin is pinking up, you are pressing too hard.
  • Hold a mat at the base with your free hand so you are not pulling on the skin.
  • Finish while your pet is still happy. Two short sessions beat one long fight.
  • Clear the hair out as you go -- a loaded brush stops gripping.

Which Coats It Suits

GiGwi describe this brush as designed for dogs with short or curly coats. It will not get down through a long double coat the way a slicker does, so for a long-coated pet treat it as a bath-time and massage brush rather than your main de-shedding tool.

Using It In The Bath

  • Wet the coat thoroughly first, then work the shampoo in with the brush in small circles.
  • Keep it away from the eyes, the inside of the ears and any broken skin.
  • Rinse until the water runs completely clear. Shampoo left in the coat is a common cause of itching.
  • Use a dog or cat shampoo, never a human one -- the pH is wrong for their skin.

Good To Know

  • Go gently over bony areas, the belly, the armpits and anywhere thin-skinned.
  • Stop if you find a hot, weepy or scabbed patch and get it looked at rather than brushing over it.
  • A matted coat that has gone solid against the skin is a clipping job for a groomer, not a brushing job.
  • Not a children's toy. Keep it with the pet's things.
