Description
Replacement fine foam for the Exo Terra Turtle External Canister Filter FX-200.
What Fine Foam Does
It is the second mechanical stage. Coarse foam catches the large debris; fine foam catches what gets through — the small suspended particles that make water look cloudy. This is the stage that gives you genuinely clear water rather than merely clean water.
It also carries a large share of the filter's beneficial bacteria, which is why how you clean it matters.
Cleaning and Replacing
- Rinse in tank water, never under the tap. Chlorine kills the bacterial colony, and the filter then stops processing ammonia until it rebuilds over several weeks.
- Squeeze gently in a bucket of removed tank water and put it back.
- Replace only when the foam is breaking down or no longer springs back — not simply because it looks dirty. A mature foam is doing its best work.
- When you do replace it, do not change other media at the same time.
Compatibility
For the Exo Terra Turtle Filter FX-200 only. Single piece.
