Exo Terra Reptile Cave Hide - 2XL

The Exo Terra Reptile Cave is a natural-looking rock hide — the plain, practical version, without a novelty shape, and the one most keepers end up buying two or three of.

A Hide Is Not Decoration

Reptiles and amphibians need a safe place to hide and rest. Without one they develop stress that shows up directly in reduced activity and appetite, and stressed animals shed badly and are more prone to illness.

Keepers who cannot see their animal often conclude it does not need a hide — which is precisely backwards. An animal that knows it has somewhere to retreat becomes more confident and more visible over time.

Why Two Hides Is the Right Answer

Place one at the warm end and one at the cool end. A reptile with only one hide, at one temperature, is forced to choose between feeling safe and being the right temperature — and many will pick safety and sit at the wrong temperature for days, which affects digestion and immune function.

Key Features

• Natural rock appearance that integrates into any terrarium
• Secure hiding place that reduces stress
• Very stable — not easily tipped over, even by larger reptiles
• Available in Small, Medium and 2XL

Sizes

Choose a size your animal fits into snugly. Reptiles prefer a hide with walls in contact on several sides — a cave far larger than the animal feels less secure, not more.

Care

• Rinse in warm water and scrub gently.
• Avoid detergents and household cleaners — residues are absorbed through amphibian skin.
• Check it cannot be dug out from underneath by burrowing species and collapse on them.
